We are excited to introduce the second release of LOT 61, our annual project dedicated to exploring something new and inspired each year. Whether it’s a new varietal, whole cluster, or even a digestivo, each LOT 61 is a one-time release, offered exclusively to our members first—and once it’s gone, it’s gone.
For our second LOT 61 release, we chose Alicante Bouschet, a distinctive varietal known for its deep color, rich fruit, and bold character.
Alicante Bouschet is an intriguing little-known varietal with fewer than 1,000 acres planted in California. It’s a cross between Petite Bouschet and Grenache and yields inky, complex, and fruit-forward wines built for lovers of big reds. While red wine grapes typically have clear flesh, Alicante is unique in its intense color. Grown in Alisos Canyon AVA, it offers rich, jammy fruit and spicy, smoky, vanilla bean notes that are best enjoyed with a perfectly grilled steak.
The packaging features a bare neck, and label with debossed sequoia tree rings and flowing creek set inside the lot lines of an actual location – LOT 61. It is our inspiration point, but LOT 61 represents what moves you. It’s your happy place. Where you feel unchained, renewed, grounded and inspired.
LOT 61 is for the dreamers, the doers, and the adventurous at heart.
